The science of perception

Perception can rule a person. If it turns into belief, and then a habit, it is now something solid that has the ability to take over many generations. Habits can leave impressions found on our genes. Perception is not so individualistic. We are human and live and work in groups. This is why groups of people can have the same or similar perceptions. The most common example is a religious or spiritual belief. There are other, meaningful reasons why people follow beliefs, but here I am focusing only on the manifestation of understanding reality through human perception. For example, what are the many ways people know God or gods? And why are there so many different ways?

Perception is the way the human mind absorbs and digests the reality of life for survival and for spiritual development or growth. Why do you find individuals “breaking” from religious beliefs and making a different version of their former religion? We change and evolve throughout time. We learn new things, so we move into other forms of understanding. We follow our own evolution or de-evolution of our comprehension of life.

Life is big. The human mind can only understand so much of reality, so we can only take and use some part of this. This is another reason why we continue to learn, grow, change and even fail over time. We are seeking out more of what we do not know, because it is there, even if we haven’t encountered it yet. We sense it somehow.

There is a lot out there. There are many things we cannot see, feel or touch in our lifetimes, so what we do encounter is what our visual cortex or other sensory perceptions can comprehend. So we comprehend only a fraction of reality. Here is where our own perception takes over. We perceive reality the way our mind shows us, which we usually understand though images, sensations, family imprints, environmental imprints, historical knowledge or anything else that we know and are familiar with, given to us at birth or throughout our lives. We translate these perceptions in “pieces” usually as images, emotions, language, etc. These “pieces” are very connected to reality. They are just not the total picture, the total reality per se. They are only pieces that are part of something bigger. This is how we come to comprehend life, through what we know and can translate through our perception.

Everyone has there own comprehension. Since we are human, we work in groups. Group perception is normal due to our basic nature of being the same, (at least built the same, two arms, two legs, same reproduction, etc.), but of course we have different imprints and life paths that influence our perception throughout time. We grow, learn and evolve as human beings. We also retract, retreat and devolve at times. So the group perception will follow these paths. Some perceptions are very strong, like those you find in religion. But if the religions are different, which one is really correct? Now go back to why there are so many ways people know God. For example, we know something, but what perception has molded the definition or being of God differently in each religious group?

When perception becomes strong enough, like a rock, it then turns into belief. Belief then turns into habit and now you have a long living, generational, historically documented habit with a rock-like formation and may take centuries to break. This does not mean one religion or all religions are wrong or false. I am focusing on the different perceptions, or “pieces.” They are explanations to what we know up to this point, what we can comprehend and what we need for our own survival. If we had the whole truth in our hands, we would be satisfied and not seek out more knowledge about reality. We would not argue about the differences. We would have no differences looking at the same thing. Many more people over time seek out answers, especially through investigating human society, researching historical documentations and developing science. If we are all knowing, then why do we seek out? What is unsettling to us and why question? It also may be very natural and just time to seek out and find the new elixir. This is what we do, we search and find. We bring new knowledge back to the group.

All of the different perceptions, are correct to a certain degree. Each one touches on reality, but our reality is perceived, and what we write down and transmit to others is comprehended by our own mind.

When we do find new information, we put it against the history, and find out if it fits in with what we know as a group, or with our own known sensory. If it does not fit with already-made perceptions, it is usually rejected. It is not so easy to deviate away from what we already know. Just ask anyone who made a new discovery, or tried to put out a new invention. This is good to some degree, at least to discard any illusory factions someone manifested, but it is detrimental to the new and very real connections to life and reality. It seems the latter is more important to consider. It makes sense why people cannot believe new and genuine ideas when those ideas come out. Or they absorb them subconsciously and use fragments of them that way. They are unable to comprehend them and have no visual or sensory comparison to them. It is actually the duty of the “individual seeker” to properly translate this new information in a digestible way.

Making up for what we do not know
This is very common and most likely works subconsciously through people at least half of the time. What we cannot understand, we can make up for it in our mind. We add our own piece to the puzzle. This could be related to one's own creative co-evolution, the creative free-will of a human being to actually make tangible workings.

What we manifest can be very real to us, it may even manifest its own energy in reality, but if it only comes from our imagination, is it actually part of the reality? Yes and no. Perception is always connected to something, but “what” is it connected to? What is the outcome of comprehension? Using and developing our own perception as truth, without discernment or real awareness is what I would call illusion. Either the real perception or the illusion can be strong and believable in a person, so they can mix and easily be wrongly identified if there is no reflection or awareness. Now if the outcome is a real, tangible working, like an invention, then this plays as the manifestation of co-creation.

Why seek?
Wanting to know more of reality is normal. We are looking for answers because we are developing ourselves. We are looking for something we may understand, but we cannot see yet. It is a reason why people are attracted to “psychic” type people or those that can “see beyond this reality.” They are tapping into (or supposed to be tapping into) a larger portion of what many people cannot comprehend (maybe). But remember it is always their perception and perception is interpretation.
