Auto Fuel & Mileage Tracker Support

User Support Guide

1. App Overview

Auto Fuel & Maintenance Tracker is a private, on-device tracker that helps you stay on top of your vehicle expenses and maintenance. Everything you enter stays on your device — no accounts, no cloud sync, no internet connection required.

Key highlights:

  • Track fuel fill-ups, mileage, and fuel economy over time
  • Log maintenance events (oil changes, tire rotations, brakes, etc.)
  • View cost summaries and history by vehicle
  • Support for multiple vehicles in one app
  • 100% offline — all data stored privately on your device

2. Features & How-To Guide

Adding a Vehicle

Tap the + button on the Vehicles screen. Enter your vehicle's year, make, model, and any nickname you'd like. You can add as many vehicles as you own. Tap Save when done.

Attaching Vehicle Documents

On a vehicle's detail screen, use the Documents section to attach reference files for that vehicle — for example, a manufacturer's maintenance schedule PDF, a window sticker, or a photo of a service record. Choose a file from your Photo Library or from Files, and it's saved with that vehicle. Tap any attached document to view it, or remove it with the X button.

Logging a Fuel Fill-Up

Select your vehicle, then tap Fuel Log > Add Entry. Enter the date, odometer reading, gallons added, and price per gallon (or total cost). The app automatically calculates your fuel economy (MPG) for each entry.

Recording Maintenance

Select your vehicle, then tap Maintenance > Add Entry. Choose the service type from the list (or enter a custom type), enter the date, odometer reading, cost, and any notes. You can also set a reminder for the next service interval.

Viewing History & Summaries

The History screen shows all past fuel and maintenance entries sorted by date. The Summary screen shows totals by category and date range, including average MPG, total fuel cost, and total maintenance spending.

Editing or Deleting Entries

Swipe left on any entry to reveal Edit and Delete options. Tap Edit to change any field, or Delete to permanently remove the entry.

Switching Between Vehicles

Use the vehicle selector at the top of the main screen to switch between your vehicles. Each vehicle's data is kept separate.

3. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my data backed up automatically?

The app stores all data locally on your device. It does not back up to any cloud service on its own. Your data is included in your device's local backup if you back up your iPhone via iCloud or iTunes/Finder — this is controlled entirely by your device settings, not the app.

Q: Can I use the app on multiple devices?

Currently the app does not sync between devices. Each installation maintains its own local database. If you restore a device backup to a new iPhone, your app data will be restored along with it.

Q: Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings > Export Data to generate a CSV file of your entries, which you can save or share via the iOS Share Sheet to email, Files, or any other app.

Q: Does the app require an internet connection?

No. The app is fully offline and works without any internet or cellular connection.

Q: Do I need to create an account?

No account is required. The app does not collect any personal information and has no login system.

Q: Can I add more than one vehicle?

Yes, there is no limit to the number of vehicles you can add.

Q: What units does the app support?

The app supports both US (MPG, gallons, miles) and metric (L/100km, liters, kilometers) units. You can change the unit system under Settings > Units.

4. Troubleshooting

The app won't open or crashes on launch

  • Force-close the app and reopen it (swipe up from the app switcher).
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Check that your iOS version is up to date (Settings > General > Software Update).
  • Delete and reinstall the app. Note: reinstalling will erase your local data unless you have a device backup.

An entry I added is missing

  • Check that you saved the entry — look for a confirmation message after tapping Save.
  • Verify you are viewing the correct vehicle using the vehicle selector.
  • Check the date filter on the History screen — it may be set to a range that excludes your entry.

MPG calculation looks incorrect

  • Ensure you entered the correct odometer reading for each fill-up.
  • MPG is calculated as miles driven since the last fill-up divided by gallons added this fill-up.
  • The first fill-up after installing or after a gap in entries may show an unusual value — this is expected.

The app is running slowly

  • Close other apps running in the background.
  • Restart your device.
  • If you have a very large number of entries, performance may improve after archiving older records.

I forgot to log a fill-up and my MPG history is off

  • Add the missed fill-up using the correct historical date and odometer reading.
  • The app will recalculate MPG for affected entries automatically.
