These days I'm up in the mountains. Yesterday, due to a network problem caused by not insignificant atmospheric effects, the phone line went down from 8 AM to 11 PM. I was cut off from the world for an entire day. I couldn't connect for work related matters, I couldn't communicate with friends or relatives, I couldn't keep up with the day's news, I couldn't watch TV or listen to a podcast.
When, in the evening, shortly before going to bed, the line came back, my day's plans had by then fallen through.
I quickly checked my mail, my messages on WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and everything else. How many messages or notifications had I received during the day?
None.
