• State and Local Taxes: Undocumented immigrants paid an average effective state and local tax rate of 10.1% in 2023, which exceeds the average effective tax rate of 7.2% paid by the top 1% of highest-income households in most states.
• Federal Taxes: Undocumented immigrants paid a federal tax rate of 5.27% in 2022. This rate was higher than that paid by some wealthy Americans, according to ProPublica data.
• Corporate Taxes: In 2022, undocumented immigrants paid more in federal income taxes than 55 Fortune 500 corporations, which had a combined pre-tax income of nearly $200 billion but paid just $3.7 billion in federal income tax.
