Debate reflection

After listening and participating to the debates in class which were about whether NFT's were art, whether graffiti should be legal, and whether international schools should have dresscodes. The most interesting thing I learned was that graffiti has legalised in multiple countries. I found this the most interesting as the representation and stigma around graffiti has always been quite negative immediately (which is something Mahroosh pointed out in her debate) and so it surprised me. During my own debate I think the biggest challenge for me was having to formulate correct and structured arguments on the spot without panicking or stuttering too much. On the other hand I do think that my prepared part of the speech went well as I felt more relaxed and I was able to formulate at least one well structured argument. I also think that Julie was able to respond calmly and fight against the arguments being made very well. This is because her responses were well structured making it easy for the audience to understand what she was trying to say and so it made her argument more convincing. She took in the information that the opposing side gave and also helped use it to her advantage which I found a very good way to convince the audience further.
