"Do they not then reflect on the Quran? Or are there locks upon their hearts?"
[Quran 47:24]

By Allah's permission, for approximately the past five years I have tried to regain my ability to think. I deleted my social media accounts and lessened my consumption of entertainment and instant gratification. When I began this journey, I did not know what I was doing it for. As I continued to remove distractions my life, I realized that my heart was craving something. With increased silence that I gained from this transition, I began to hear my heart's protests. This ayah captures a reality for many of us and that is living with a locked heart. We live without pondering the Qur'an.

The purpose of life is to worship Allah and thus, we should strive to make our lives revolve around fulfilling this purpose. Just as many Muslims value eating halal food, we must be selective of halal nourishment for our eyes, ears, and souls. Just like we read the labels of our food and verify its status, we read the label and verify everything which we introduce into our lives as best as we can.

My intention for this blog is to share reflections of content I have consumed and have reflected upon to make connections to what Islam has to say about the topic. Perhaps, it may encourage a person to see the beauty in pondering and to see connections in which they did not see before.

I chose this platform because I have recently been reading about how popular companies exploit personal information for their own selfish gain. All links provided on this platform will be through privacy-oriented alternatives that have made their source code open to the public to verify how their data is used. For now, images will be available as hyperlinks that is connected to an open-source platform. Hopefully, having to click on an image and wait an extra second only only helps you delay gratification either way, haha.
