Why It's So Important To Have A Soild And Meaningful ROUTINE!

ROUTINE! ROUTINE! ROUTINE!
I cannot express enough how important it is for every individual to have a solid and meaningful daily routine. A routine that not only guides you through the hours of your day, but also fills you with a sense of purpose and leaves you feeling accomplished and fulfilled by the time your head hits the pillow at night. A routine that makes you excited to wake up and do it all over again the next day. Too often, when people hear the word "routine," they associate it with boredom, repetition, or something they are forced to do rather than something they choose. We imagine a dull loop, a cycle that drains us instead of fuelling us. But that is because many of us are not creating routines with purpose. We are not asking ourselves the deeper questions. What am I hoping to achieve through this routine? What is the goal behind the tasks I repeat every day? What kind of person am I trying to become? A routine is not meant to be a mindless repetition of chores. It is meant to be the foundation of a life lived with intention. It is a tool that shapes our character, strengthens our discipline, and helps us reach the goals we set for ourselves. Without a routine, we are just drifting, hoping for success but never really taking the steps to build it.

That is why I believe in the power of the 8 8 8 rule. It is a simple and effective way to divide your day into balance, productivity, and personal fulfillment. It provides structure to your life while allowing room for growth and joy.

The first 8 hours are dedicated to hard work. This is your job, your education, your business, or your passion. It is the part of your day where you build your future, where your effort meets opportunity. These hours require focus, drive, and dedication. They are the foundation of your progress.

The second 8 hours are for quality sleep. Sleep is not a luxury, it is a necessity. It is how the body heals, how the mind resets, and how our emotions find balance. When you give yourself the full 8 hours of restful sleep, you are choosing to respect your health, your energy, and your potential. Do not cut corners here. You deserve rest.

The final 8 hours are where life truly blossoms. These hours are split into three meaningful parts.

  • First, spend 3 hours connecting with the people and beliefs that keep you grounded. Give an hour to your family, an hour to your friends, and an hour to your faith or spiritual connection. Relationships are the heart of life. No matter how busy you get, never forget the people who love you and the values that guide you.

    • Second, give 3 hours to your health, hygiene, and hobbies. Take care of your body with movement, whether that is through a sport, a workout, or simply stretching and walking. Take care of your hygiene because how you treat yourself reflects how you see yourself. And finally, give your mind something to enjoy and grow from. Choose a hobby that stimulates you. Read a book, write in a journal, paint, cook, play an instrument or learn something new. Choose something that lights a spark in your soul.
  • The last 2 hours are your personal space. Use them wisely. Whether you need to commute, reflect, rest, plan, or simply be still for a while, let those hours support the rest of your day.

Now of course, not every person's life looks the same. If you are a student with a part-time job or an athlete in training, your schedule might shift. You may not have the same amount of time every single day for hobbies or friends. But even in a packed schedule, it is important to carve out moments for rest, for growth, and for connection. A routine does not have to be perfect, but it does have to be intentional. The truth is, a strong routine is not about being strict. It is about being aligned. It is about making sure your time reflects your values. It is about building habits that will carry you toward the person you want to be. So create a routine that nourishes your soul, supports your dreams, and protects your peace. Do not just go through the day. Live the day. Honour the day. Make it count.

You only get this one life. Design a routine that helps you make the most of it.
