Chapter 11 – Email

Protonmail – A privacy focused company, they offer multiple private friendly services buneled all together, their email is end to end encrupted with “zero access encryption” meaning not even protonmail can see your emails. A great option as an email by itself, fully featured and reliable but the fact even the free version comes with proton drive storage space, vpn services and a calendar it is hard to beat. It also uses pgp encryption which I will get into a bit later , proton to proton everything is encrypted using that key, you can also export it and use it for other applications.
Tutanota – Also privacy focused uses algorithms that pgp keys use but for the entire mailbox, every part is encrypted. You can also send emails with a password attached that is required to unlock them, this password being something you would need to share in advance or not by that email. A very cool feature. The free version also comes with a calander but not all the other bells and whistles protonmail does. They are planning for the future with post quantum encryption experimentation.

The paid accounts for both of these have extra features, more storage space, the ability to create aliases, emails that have a separate name from yours but end up the same place. Good if you want to hand out emails to people but don’t want it to be your first.lastname email, or the ability to use an email for all social media accounts making it easier for you to organize your inbox. At this time the most private way to pay for the upgrades would be proton mail accepting cash as a privacy friendly option.

You'll only receive email when they publish something new.
