Big Fish - Daniel Wallace (January 1)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really love the movie based on this book, and I saw it first, but I prefer the film to the book, which is unusual for me. I think Ewan McGreggor playing young Edward and Albert Finney playing old Edward bring the story to life for me in a way that the book just doesn’t. It’s a good book, but not a favorite.
Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy (January 10)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve read this quite a few times and have always enjoyed it. Reminds me a lot of Clear and Present Danger too.
Cry Havoc - Jack Carr (January 16)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️It was a nice change of pace for a Jack Carr book to be set in a different era. Was a good page-turner.
The Princess Bride - William Goldman (January 25)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Enjoyable story that’s similar on the movie (this came first), but different enough to be interesting, especially the framing story behind the whole thing.
Starship Troopers - Robert Heinlein (February 10)(print) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very famous book that I’d never read before. I enjoyed it quite a bit!
A Man Called Ove - Fredrick Blackman (February 16)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very good story about a very grumpy man whose heart was too big.
The Russian Five - Keith Gave (February 26)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book that brought back a lot of memories of the time when I actually followed the Red Wings.
Ernie Harwell's Audio Scrapbook (March 4)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Listen to it every year before baseball season and love it every time. He was the voice of my childhood and listening to him puts a smile on my face.
Why We Love Baseball - Joe Posnaski (March 7)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love this book! It encapsulates why I love baseball, and it is a great read!
Moneyball - Michae Lewis (March 8)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another enjoyable baseball book that I like to read each year.
The Lord of the Rings: Book 1 - JRR Tolkien (March 11)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoying this audio version of the story.
Britt-Marie Was Here - Fredrick Backman (March 12)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoy Backman’s characters. He excels at writing ones that are quirky, irritating, and lovable.
The Lord of the Rings: Book 2 - JRR Tolkien (March 13)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a really good version! Very engrossing and I’m enjoying it greatly!
Shoeless Joe - W.P. Kinsella (March 18)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s a good story and inspired a good movie. Glad to read it again.
Grave Descend - Michael Crichton (March 22)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of his early books, I enjoyed it as a good page-turning thriller.
The Shattering Peace - John Scalzi (March 26)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another good entry in the Old Man’s War series. I liked it a lot more than some of Scalzi’s more recent, sillier stuff.
Eruption - Michael Crichton/James Patterson (March 29)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s quite the page-turner, and I enjoyed reading it again.
Is This Anything? - Jerry Steinfeld (April 1)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Always funny book. Definitely best as audio, since Jerry reads it.
The Hunt for Red October - Tom Clancy (Apr 7) (audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love this abridged audiobook by Richard Crenna. The book flies!
Children of Dune - Frank Herbert (Apr 11)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A good book in the Dune series. I especially like how immersive it feels. Plot is alright, but world-building is great.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis (Apr 15)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s a classic and I really enjoy it. Great audiobook too!
The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger (Apr 17)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My wife and I enjoy the movie and she mentioned that the book was better, so I read it and I agree with her! The ending of the book is so much better and I'm glad I read it.
Prince Caspian - C.S. Lewis (Apr 18)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I like it, but there are some parts that I like to skip over, so not as good as the first book. But now on to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which I really enjoy.
All the Pretty Horses - Cormac McCarthy (Apr 22)(kindle)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Interesting western novel. I’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve read by him and am looking forward to the other two books in the Border Trilogy.
The Rook - Daniel O’Malley (Apr 28)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoy this book and enjoyed reading it again, as I’ve done many times. Planning to read the other 3 books in the series too.
Stiletto - Daniel O’Malley (May 7)(kindle) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great sequel to The Rook that I enjoyed reading again.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - C.S. Lewis (May 9)(audio) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed reading this again. One of my favorites from the series.
