Monthly highlights May 2024

public:: true

  • [[General]]
    • Have been thinking to publish my writings to my close circles. Decided to start with monthly highlights and then create different mini circles if needed. Will be doing the same for a professional newsletter.
    • Marriage proceedings have started. Waiting for the dramas lol.
  • [[Tools]]
    • Cancelled Audible Subscription. Bought a high storage memory card to store movies and audiobooks.
    • Cancelled [[Mocha]] Subscription. It was a flashcard application. I was using it to revise technical topics for interviews.
      • Decided to keep all my coding notes and revision practice in Notion and Logseq.
    • Started using [[Voicenotes AI]] android and web app . It has flawless voice to text conversion. Search bar helps in searching the inputs via text. They have a limited lifetime plan. Kinda tempted to buy that. #w1 #p1
    • Bought OnePlus Buds 2 Wireless earphones. Highly convenient for audiobooks. I should have started using it earlier.
  • [[career]]
    • Got a Senior Full Stack Developer job in Bangalore. Excited to see what's next. Changed mainly for the location. Wanted to move to Bangalore before marriage.
    • Vacated Hyderabad. It served as a nice haven when I had a rough time. Witnessed great sunsets. Met new people. Tasted awesome biryanis. Add pics.
    • Need to advance faster in career. Planning for a 20LPA job in a year.
  • [[Entertainment]] [[consuming]]
    • Started and completed [[Hell's Paradise]] [[anime]] [[Series]]. It was a good commercial watch.
    • Devoured [[Dark Matter]] [[Audiobook]] first few chapters.
      • If a gun was pointed to your head, what are the things that would be important to you. Are you treating them important now? question
      • [[Apple TV]] has made a series of the same book. Might be watching it after finishing the audiobook.
    • Saw [[Hijack]] series. It was good fun watch.
    • Want to restart learning books.
    • Most content was consumed during travel.
  • [[thoughts]]
    • All the things we see influence us a lot. We are either not consciously aware or stubborn to accept.
      • image.png
      • This applies for our attitude, lifestyle and values too. Saw a YouTube conversation where [[Sridhar Vembu Zoho CEO]] 's values reflected heavily on his lifestyle and company. He intentionally lives in a village, keeps his consumption of resources less, believes in frugality in business and leads a calm and peaceful lifestyle. He has done this intentionally to break the [[hedonic treadmill]]. We should see what is important for us and optimize for that.
      • Will be reading [[Wanting]] book, which covers the same. Read first few pages and surprised to see even rich, well aware and powerful people like [[Peter Thiel]] are affected by this.
      • Something similar was also said in [[Same as ever]] Audiobook, something on the lines where middle class was more happy in 1950s than now, as everyone at that time around them has the same things - a car, a home etc.
      • I should be careful of what I am interested in and the real cost of it. Need to see if this will decrease my participation in things. This might make life bit dull? #question . I might need to keep changing the ratio for this I think. Doing new things vs going deep in something
    • Saw an Instagram video of a kid in warzone selling food made by his mom. I need to start counting my blessings and restart writing gratitude journal as well.
      • Can you be completely content and overly ambitious at the same time or should it be a mix of both? #question
      • I should also celebrate milestones as modern life is an [[hedonic treadmill]] anyways.
  • [[Travel]]

    - Went on a two day trip to Pondicherry with a bunch of people. It was a good break. Had few nice and short conversations.. Realized I should have more talk about life with people with different mindsets/ perspectives/ beliefs. Enjoyed staring the beach and sea. Add pics
