Mr.Coco

By Hasan Wadud

I had always feared dogs for many reasons. Even though most of them didn’t have any intention to harm me.

When I heard that a dog was about to come next door, I imagined a black, muscular, sharp-toothed, fierce dog.

But what came was not that. He was a small, light brown and white, innocent, cute dog. I was happy. His name is Coco. Let’s call him Mr. Coco.

Now you see, he was a unique dog. He ate watermelons, bananas, chicken bones but never ate dog food. I liked that. He goes outside, plays and also runs after birds and stuff.

Since he thought cats were also fun to play with, he gave it a try one day. But he never came to try that again. Reason? One of the kittens who was just 3 months old, gave him a face kick and scratched his ear. Even though Mr. Coco didn’t have any plan to harm them, the cats just didn’t like it. But he still comes near our house making sure there are no cats around.

Then one day when I was playing my guitar, Mr. Coco looked through the door with a disappointed face. As if I had done something very wrong. He barked and cried in the dog language. It took me some time to figure out what was going on. The thing is, he doesn’t like guitar.

By the way, not to forget, he poses very well for photos. He must be imagining himself as a model in the dog world.

He runs away randomly. We sometimes hear someone running after him saying “Coco, Coco, hey Coco, don’t run, man, stop.”

And when he cuts his hair, he’s a cute little ball. I love him.

So Mr. Coco is basically a cute, innocent, little crazy thing, er, and also a dog. For namesake.
