If we think of language as a virus, then we can think of the impending wave of machine-produced language as a pandemic. There's going to be a lot of this kind of language, it will be everywhere, it will be difficult to know if the language we're dealing with is "clean" or "infected" - and the effects of this wave of words on the way we live, think, speak and work won't be known until we've seen them in vivo.
This is not bad news, and it's not good news either. You can catch good things through language, too.
It does, however, change the way we think about words such as "we" and "think", doesn't it?
