Introduction to an analysis of 'The Shadow Scholar'

Text 1 is an article published to the Chronicles of Higher Education by Ed Dante. It was issued on the 10th of November in 2010. The target audience for this article is teachers and professors at high schools and universities, this is acknowledged multiple times during the text. The author exposes the professors to the extensive amount of cheating that goes on within their classrooms. He exposes the level of incompetency of the students and the gullibility of the professors throughout the text. The purpose of this text is to reveal to the reader the true misconduct of university students and how easy it is for them to do it without being caught. This is done through the use of language, tone and visual images.
