Why I built 360 file tools that never upload your files

Every time I needed to merge two PDFs or shrink a photo, the free site on top of the search results wanted my file on its server first. Sometimes it also wanted an email, or it put a watermark on the result. That bothered me, because those files are often private.
So I built OpenFile. It is a free and open source toolkit with more than 360 file tools for PDF, images, video, audio, fonts, archives, eBooks, data files and code. The work happens inside your browser tab with WebAssembly, so nothing is uploaded anywhere. There is no sign up, no watermark and no limit.
A few things I care about:
- Privacy by design. Your file stays on your device from start to finish.
- Offline use. Install it as a PWA once and it works without internet.
- Real open source. MIT license, so you can read it, fork it or host it yourself.
- Local AI tools run in Web Workers on your own machine, with no API key.
It is built with React 19, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind 4 and WebAssembly, and there are desktop builds for Windows, macOS and Linux plus an Android build.

If you find a tool that is missing, open an issue on GitHub. I am adding more every week.
