Ukraine IS Joining NATO

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Only the members of NATO that actually take security threats seriously and comply with military spending targets have a voice in the matter.

Ukraine does not yet meet the requirements for NATO, but neither does many of the current members of NATO. Ukraine meets the NATO requirements better than Germany does. I seriously doubt Ukraine would ever show up to a NATO emergency deployment readiness exercise with broomsticks in hand. I think Germany needs to spend more time focusing on when and how they intend to meet the NATO requirements.

We don't take advice from countries who completely ignored all of the threats from Russia until the very last minute. We also don't take advice from countries that allow their former chancellors to sit on the Board of Directors for Russian state-owned energy companies. We know Russia invaded Ukraine to steal Ukraine's natural gas reserves, and the former Chancellor Gerhard Schrรถder, along with the other board members, will be held accountable as an accomplice for these actions, especially if Germany continues to hold Ukraine back.

We are trying to be nice and polite to Germany, but that does not mean that we are naive - far from it. Our politeness has limits.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz will not tell Ukraine that they can not join NATO, especially after everything Ukraine has been through. Ukraine IS joining NATO, and NATO is going to provide Ukraine with a multi-year program that states specifically when Ukraine can join the alliance or at least when Ukraine can begin the accession process. We know this will be after the war is over. We also know that no one can predict when the war will be over, but we can provide projections. The USA can help Ukraine meet all of the requirements and complete the program. I have no doubt that Ukraine will finish the program early, since they are so eager to join the alliance, and they are very "quick learners" according to our military experts. The USA should provide Ukraine with a mutual cooperation and defense treaty to guarantee their security throughout the post-war transition and the NATO accession process. So yes, Ukraine will, absolutely, become a member of NATO in the foreseeable future. Ukraine has risked everything for this, and we can give them the promise that they need so that they can envision a future for themselves free from Russian terror and aggression.
