The USA Sees Silence as a Serious Threat

🇺🇸 🇨🇳 Beijing has no leverage whatsoever. Their silence is pure foolishness.

The USA will continue to seek dialogue with China, because it is both the morally correct and politically correct thing to do. But don't assume that the USA is not prepared for war, and not planning for one. We are always prepared for every possible scenario, especially the worst case scenario. The USA has mutual defense treaties with several countries in the Indo-Pacific region. We are responsible for their security, and we take our responsibilities seriously.

It is because of China's aggressive behavior and reckless actions in the Indo-Pacific region that the USA will be reforming our global security architecture. Just as Russia's aggressive behavior strengthened and expanded NATO, China's aggressive behavior is strengthening our Indo-Pacific alliances. The USA will establish a treaty organization for the Indo-Pacific region, the Indo-Pacific Treaty Organization (IPTO), which China refers to as "Asian NATO." This is something China clearly does not want to exist, but this will happen because of their aggressive and reckless behavior in the Indo-Pacific region.

The USA has to contend with several security threats in the Indo-Pacific. The threats in the Indo-Pacific region are much bigger than the threats in the North Atlantic region. The USA needs more structure in the Indo-Pacific region to manage these security threats accordingly. Establishing a new treaty organization for the Indo-Pacific region or a new security community (a concept I took from the highly esteemed political scientist Karl Wolfgang Deutsch) is the best way for the USA to create that structure, manage all of these security threats responsibly, and fulfill all of our responsibilities to our Indo-Pacific allies. This is the first step towards our goal of eliminating the possibility of war in the Indo-Pacific. Beijing would be wise to maintain a dialogue with the Secretary General of this new Indo-Pacific Treaty Organization once it is up and running as well as the US Department of Defense Secretary.
