Niger

🇳🇪 How did the USA become so unpopular in Niger? How did the USA fail at winning over the civilian population's trust? How did Russia manage to gain their confidence when we are the ones in Niger fighting the terrorists with them? These failures will have to be addressed.

The USA will have to destroy the US military facility in Niger and bring the troops home if the democratically-elected president of Niger is not restored to power soon. The USA can not use military force to restore the Nigerien government. That would be considered neocolonialist and we would be accused of forcing our will on the Nigeriens, which we will not do. The USA can not provide any military support to military coups either and that includes military infrastructure.

The protestors in Niger may not represent the majority of the civilian population, but it is clear that no civilian groups are protesting in the streets asking for Americans to help them. It could be out of fear, perhaps, but there is no way for us to know. There is too much uncertainty about what the civilian population really wants in Niger right now. If they don't like the USA, then we have to accept that and leave. Even though we know that none of this is in their best interest, we don't have the right to insist that we know what is in their best interest.

I hope that ECOWAS will be successful at restoring the democratic government in Niger, and I hope that we can continue to work with the Nigeriens. And I hope that we can create a more favorable impression of the USA in Niger, so that the civilian population in Niger recognizes the USA as their friends and ally.
