The USA Loves France

🇫🇷 France is the USA's oldest ally. France funded the American Revolution. The last thing we will do is sabotage an alliance that has endured throughout almost the entire history of our nation. For whatever reason France's approach is not working in West Africa, so we wish to adopt a different approach in the region. I do not mean France's counterterrorism strategy is failing. France has been successful in their counterterrorism operations in the Sahel, and the USA is cooperating with France on counterterrorism operations. I'm referring to France's campaign to counter Russia's negative influence in West Africa. I don't know if France even has a campaign to counter Russia's negative influence in the region, but if they do it is clearly not working. We recognize the need to do this - to project a positive image - to counter Russia's disinformation and false narratives. We hope to win the trust of the civilian populations in West Africa and be recognized as an ally and friend. We also wish to prevent a bigger conflict that would destabilize the whole region. We know that no one understands West Africa better than the leaders of West Africa. We trust their judgement on this crisis and we will support their decisions. We will stand with the democratic leaders of West Africa, however they wish to proceed. xo
