US Foreign Policy

🇺🇸 I stated before that there is no better foreign policy than one that turns your enemies into your allies. This is true. But we have to follow the example President Truman set for us. He understood that you can not turn an enemy into an ally until you have completely defeated them first. You must demonstrate your strength, otherwise your kindness is interpreted as a weakness. Your enemy will assume you are naive, use your kindness to take advantage of you, and try to gain an advantage over you. They will never become an ally until they are first forced to surrender.
"We completely defeated our enemies and made them surrender. And then we helped them to recover, to become democratic, and to rejoin the community of nations." - President Truman
I love this quote by President Truman because he clearly states the order of operations for one of the most brilliant and effective foreign policies in US history. I also love that this foreign policy came from a very simple and humble man, who didn't even graduate from college.
You might say President Reagan was brilliant because he broke up the Soviet Union and ended the Cold War without ever going to war or using any weapons. That is commendable, and many Eastern European countries are free now because of it. But Reagan did not turn Russia into an ally. Russia is still an enemy. Russia is still a huge problem for us. The peace did not last very long.
President Truman's foreign policies have brought everlasting peace between the USA and our former enemies. A true peace - an alliance. Now they are our friends. xo
