US-Africa Relations

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ There is huge question in some people's mind about fairness in US foreign policy.

A Congolese government spokesman said: โ€œWhen it comes to Ukraine, the United States is doing its best. When it comes to Rwanda, which is acting the way sometimes Vladimir Putin is acting, we are not receiving the same answer or the same reaction from the United States,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s a bit unfair for Congolese people...โ€

It is true that we are more committed to Ukraine, but that is because Ukraine is deeply committed to us. Ukraine is literally fighting Russia to become a US ally. They want to be a member of NATO. When a country is that determined to become our ally, we will absolutely do our best to help them. The Congo is not fighting to become a US ally. So the Congolese situation is not comparable to Ukraine. I believe the US government is doing everything they can to assist the Congo.

The USA would like to create a new security community or alliance with African nations, essentially an African version of NATO, and if the Congolese would like to join that alliance, I believe the USA would be open to it. After we create a new security community in Africa, we will be able to provide more security guarantees to African nations that partner with us, and prevent these conflicts that our destroying African lives and African progress. We have a lot of work to do on the African continent.
