US Senate

🇺🇸 Thank you to Senator Schumer and Senator McConnell for promising to work together on the national security supplement and complete the negotiations in January. I am still worried about the lower chamber. The Speaker of the House has not given any signal that he intends to cooperate and pass the national security supplement. His only statement has been that Ukraine has enough funding to last until February, but that statement contradicts what experts are stating. Ukraine has already had to scale back military operations because of a lack of funding.
We wish for the US Congress to pass a small supplement for Ukraine, until Congress can finish the border security negotiations and pass the larger package requested by the president. This impasse on Ukraine aid is giving Russia a new advantage. Ukraine is already significantly disadvantaged. Why are we creating more problems for Ukraine, and making this war even more difficult for them? As Ukraine scales back military operations, Russia is increasing theirs. That is not good for anyone - Ukraine, Europe or the USA. It's infuriating to Americans that partisan infighting in the US Congress is giving Russia an advantage on the battlefield.
We're tired of this belief in the US Congress that lawmakers do not have to meet deadlines. They do this all of the time on the national budget and on the annual defense act. This political game is not working for the American people. The USA's credit rating has dropped essentially because Congress refuses to meet their deadlines on national budget negotiations. There are other adverse effects from this political game. Peoples' lives are on the line right now. Europe's security is on the line. Our national security is also on the line. There are deadlines for these negotiations, and we expect the members of Congress to start meeting their deadlines. We expect the US Congress to complete legislation on time without delays. xo
