Security on US Campuses

🇺🇸 We don't support bringing the National Guard onto college campuses. The USA does not kill students like Iran to silence them, we don't run students over with military tanks like China to silence them, and we do not send in militia groups and point machine guns at them to silence them like Russia either. In the USA, we respect the students' right to protest and express their opinions. We do however, expect all students to feel safe and secure on college campuses and to not be intimidated by any student groups. We recommend college campuses boost security on campus to ensure students feel safe and secure when tensions are high on campus. We also recommend that college campuses boost counseling services and ensure students who are most likely to be affected by current affairs are invited to use them and discuss how they are affected by current affairs. We also believe the school administration should ensure that the entire student body understands that extremism and violence will not be tolerated. That students engaging in such activities will be immediately expelled. If they are international students their visas will be immediately revoked, they will be forced to return to their homeland, and they will never be invited to return to the USA, not even as a tourist. We also encourage college campuses to give students a safe space to discuss current events where they can debate current affairs, express their opinions, and share their personal experiences in an unhostile environment. Hosting conferences and forums on current affairs is something all college campuses should be doing, and we would expect Ivy League institutions to be inviting world leaders onto the college campus to discuss and debate current affairs with our future world leaders. I support calls for Columbia University's president to resign, because she should have implemented measures like this as soon as tensions started to rise on campus instead of allowing the college campus to become a hostile environment for some students. xo
