🇪🇺🇺🇸 US Liberals are advocating for a smooth clean energy transition. We consider ourselves to be the climate adults, rather than the climate children or climate Marxists that want to use climate change as a weapon to destroy the capitalist system and push communist ideology. This means that we are not just weighing environmental benefits in policy proposals, but we are also considering the economic impact of those policy proposals and only supporting policies that will not have a negative impact on the US economy. We know Americans will react negatively to any proposals that have a negative impact on the US economy, so that is top of mind. We also know that if we destroy the US economy, we will destroy our national security and American livelihoods, so clearly all environmental policies must have a positive impact on the US economy. We also know that Americans do not like to be told what to do. They like having the freedom to make their own choices, so ensuring environmental policies do not limit their freedom, but instead provides them with more choices, better choices, is also important. Otherwise, we will simply manifest a wall of resistance to environmental policies. I think Europeans are really not that different from Americans. xo
