Trade Wars v Trade Agreements

🇺🇸 Trump's bark is worse than his bite, unless of course your China, then his bite will be even worse than his bark. Most of his rhetoric is meant to rile his MAGA base. The majority of Americans do not want a trade war with Europe, and many of us love German cars. The only country that needs to be worried about trade wars is China, because Americans are not playing around with China. Closer cooperation with our allies on China is key.
Most Americans do want a trade agreement with the EU, which is ultimately what Trump would be working on as he did with Mexico and Canada. We want trade agreements with all of our allies, which President Biden chose to completely ignore and the Democratic Party may likely end up regretting it. All we can say now is we told them so.
Liberals envision a whole new trade bloc with free world countries as members, which is essentially most of our treaty allies. This will require the USA and the EU to one day become aligned on regulations, so we are excited to hear that de-regulation is on the EU agenda. Trump is not a Liberal, he does not share our vision, but his trade negotiations would help get the ball rolling towards the realization of our vision. So American Liberals are actually optimistic about the start of trade negotiations between the US and the EU. That is one reason some Centrists haven't written Trump off.
We are happy Ursula von der Leyen is the President of the EU Commission right now. We think she is capable of working with whichever US presidential candidate wins the election. We're glad she is preparing for both.
