Checks and Balances

🇺🇸 The Congressional Branch of the US government is supposed to be a check on the Executive Branch. I hope the US Senate will do it's job, and only confirm the cabinet nominees that are qualified for the jobs they have been nominated for.
Thanks to the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party's short-sightedness under his leadership, cabinet nominees can now be confirmed with a simple majority, thus weakening our system of checks and balances.
However, I believe the majority of the senators in the US Senate are interested in protecting the American people and our country, and therefore they will ensure the nominees are qualified for their jobs. They will not confirm Russian sympathizers or other questionable individuals for cabinet positions.
If the Senate Majority Leader was Senator Rick Scott, I would be extremely worried, but since the Senate Republicans elected Senator John Thune to lead the Senate, I am not.
US Liberals will work hard to reinstate the old rules and restrengthen our country's system of checks and balances. We are very grateful to Senator Sinema and Senator Manchin for rejecting the Democratic Party's strategy to further weaken the system by completely eliminating the filibuster. We hope the Democratic Party has learned their lesson, and will stop trying to eliminate the filibuster and other Senate rules that were created to ensure that no single individual or political party has too much power.
