US-Panama Relations

🇺🇸🇵🇦 I agree with President Trump about the Panama Canal. We designed it, we built it, and we provided the capital for its construction along with France, who started the project. It was very naive of President Carter to give the canal away. Carter may have been corrupted or bribed by a foreign nation. We do need to address the issue, but not in this way.

Our economy could be severely damaged if enemies like China gained control of the Panama Canal, and blocked the shipping route. That seems to be Russia and China's game plan. We have observed that Russia and China are testing different ways to obstruct global shipping routes, as they did with the Suez Canal, when a single ship obstructed the canal for several days, and in the Red Sea, where Houthi rebels are attacking ships with weapons provided by Russia, China, and Iran. Plus Russia and China are trying to create new shipping routes that they would completely control, a new Silk Road, and a new shipping route through the Arctic.

However, President Trump should not be ranting about these national security issues on social media after several glasses of champagne. There is no valid reason for President Trump to hold a press conference in Florida on these issues before his inauguration either. It is not a smart or professional communication strategy. Americans expect the executive to be more professional, so we will ask the US Congress to address the President-elect's communication habits.
