US-EU Relations

🇺🇸🇪🇺 American Liberals love the European Union. We love all of Europe. We love all liberal democracies, and we love all people pursuing liberty and democracy.

To claim the USA has an authoritarian regime is insulting to the American people. The USA is nothing like Russia and China. You may not like our president, but he is an elected official and the democratic leader of the oldest democracy in the world, a nation that has numerous checks and balances in place within the government structure to prevent authoritarianism.

Claiming the USA is authoritarian is false. It is disinformation. Anyone making such claims is clearly not interested in liberty or democracy, but rather attempting to assist authoritarian regimes in their disinformation campaigns. Presenting disinformation campaigns at a conference against disinformation is beyond the pale.

We would also like to make it clear to our European allies that any foreign nationals of allied nations providing intelligence on US citizens to Russia or China will be prosecuted under US law on US soil, and the relations between our two countries will be severely damaged. It has come to our attention that some of our allies are engaging in these kinds of activities. Moving forward, we will update existing US legislation to protect the rights of our citizens.
