Books That Move Me Deeply

These books have changed, moved, or inspired me deeply. I will keep updating.

  1. Lord of the Rings. JRR Tolkien. Best of the best. I read the hard covers every couple years. Normal hobbits do great things.
  2. Chronicles of Narnia. CS Lewis. Read to our kids
  3. Wheel of Time. Robert Jordan. Complex. Epic. Early and last books best reads
  4. Foundation Series. Isaac Asimov. Superb plot. Great ideas
  5. How Should We Then Live. Francis A. Schaeffer. Tracing art to intellectual thought. I fell in love with art because of this book.
  6. The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Stephen Donaldson. Epic fantasy. The connection between people and the land is beautiful.
  7. The Stormlight Archive. Brandon Sanderson. He creates a fascinating other world. Great writing.
  8. A Game of Thrones. George RR Martin. The books are far better than the show.
  9. Dune. Frank Herbert. He creates such a vivid other world with major cultural commentary on the drug culture of the day.
  10. The Kingkiller Chronicle. Patrick Rothfuss. Masterful writing.
  11. Lord of the Flies. William Golding. The power of the mob, of the group, of the abuse of power. Great social commentary.
  12. The Singer Trilogy. Calvin Miller. It was pure magical music to my soul.
