Installed most of the remaining programs in the newer version of Ubuntu. I was hoping to avoid copying over all my files and dot files/folders from my current home directory, but it seems that is the only way.

Made a backup of my old home directory, but since I have already created a user with my prefered username, I may have to do some administrative shuffling. Namely renaming the current user to a temporary name, create a new useriwith desired username and point to home directory to old home directory on separate partition. I would just like to mount the partition more cleanly before proceeding.
I also freed up some swap on the SSD since there already exists a /swap partition on a separate drive.
