My wife has accepted a research job in the US, but a TN Visa would not allow me to get a software developer job. So despite recently starting a new job, it looks like I have to quit to follow my wife.
As far as I know, there are three possibilities:
- Apply for a Green card
- Apply for a H1-B Visa
- Find an IT job with a TN Visa
The first two have a long wait, and there are a limited number of each. I don't have much experience managing fleets of computers, or lab equipment.
The University my wife is working for may try to find an internal job, but I think it would be similar to #3. At any rate, her contract is for two years.
