Solus, Niri, and Dank Material Shell

Prepare Your System

Make sure your system is up to date: eopkg up.

DMS supports several terminals, Install your preferred: Ghostty, Kitty, Alacritty, WezTerm.

Install Packages

Necessary: niri, niri-session, dankmaterialshell

Optional: dankcalendar

Login and Configure DMS

The first time you login under Niri you will probably just have a blank screen with a helper showing key-bind settings.

Open your terminal and type dms to bring up the CLI manager and run dms setup to configure your DMS settings.

Afterwards, run systemctl --user enable --now dms to start DMS upon login.

If you want to make sure DMS does not start for other sessions (Gnome, KDE, etc) run systemctl --user add-wants niri.service dms
