The Scourge of Tactical voting

Tactical voting is a scourge on our democracy

Voting tactically inevitably entrenches the failed two party system that most people are in despair of.

It is a damning indictment of an electoral system that inspires the creation of websites whose purpose is to make voters change their behaviour to work around the system's own failings.

But, if you pause for thought, you'll realise that Labour has had a 20%+ lead in the polls for at least two years and will inevitably win the next election, come what may.

Therefore, now is the ideal time to vote for one of the smaller parties that you truly believe in.

Even if they don't win, that party will receive 'short money' from Govt. to pay for researchers and other staff to bolster their standing next time around.

The UK remains the only democracy in Europe to still use the outdated first past the post voting system for its main elections and it is long overdue to be replaced with a fairer, proportional one.
