Stinchcombe Parish Council - Meet & Greet

It was a pleasure to attend the Stinchcombe Parish Council Meet and Greet on Thursday night along with SDC Cllr Braun.

The venue was packed and it really was great to see so many parishioners, volunteers and councillors there.

The purpose of the event was to inform the community about what is being done and, I suppose, what's possible for the community to achieve.

One of the big projects, driven by a group of passionate young parents and more senior residents, under the umbrella of the parish council is about creating an outside place for children to play and people to meet. A location has been found but funds are needed to develop the site.

Plan of the play area

As I write this 44 backers (including me!) have pledged £6,336 with 92 days left to go. Stroud District Council will also contribute if the target of £31,638 is met! So please, please share this link (or scan the QR code) with family and friends in any way you can! ;)

I also met up with Kath who is heading up the Environment & Biodiversity Group. Britain is one of the world's most nature depleted countries. Nearly 1 in 6 species at risk of being lost completely. The parish council wants to do what it can to enhance biodiversity in the area. So, they've adopted a Biodiversity Policy. The group aims to prioritise the views of the community and put the words of the policy into action.

There was also an opportunity to complete the Household Survey. Hard copies can be obtained from the Clerk.

I know I've skipped a few of the other displays, sorry! Anyway, it was a very well attended event and it was privilege to be invited to help support the work of a highly motivated community and Parish council. :)

You'll only receive email when they publish something new.
