Stinchcombe Parish Council Meeting
12th March 2025
Attended Stinchcombe Parish Council meeting earlier this week along with SDC Cllr Braun and GCC/SDC Cllr Cohen. Here are my personal notes.
Normal meeting formalities. Sadly, no members of the public to ask questions or present ideas to the Council.
Update on matters arising from previous meeting and minutes agreed.
I can't recall any questions on either the District Councillors or County Councillor report.
Three planning applications were considered, no formal comments made.
The Chair ran through updates from the various working goups.
The environment and biodiversity group is holding a drop in session on the 22nd march at the Village Hall. Discussion about a litter pick 27th April (date to be confirmed). The group is able to borrow kit, bags and litter pickers from Stroud District Council who are always supportive. If you want to do similar, it's worth contacting SDC Cllr Gill Thomas about SDC's Litter Champion Hub Scheme
The Footpaths Group has been busy walking paths and uncovering a few issues. With 20 people there's a requirement for some training. The Community Green Energy Group is waiting on a Severn Wye Energy Agency report for church and village hall. Community Recreational Space (incl. Children’s Play Area) hit their Spacehive fundraising target.
Speedwatch's original camera was not holding charge, but better now. Monthly reports and some stats starting. The new camera on Taits Hill road has been operational for nearly a full month. Can report vehicles exceeding 60mph.
Number of vehicles on The Avenue has increased, plus increased speed too with the road closures (Rushmire). Attended a 20 is plenty event and a large reduction on road deaths has been seen. A report from GCC about speed changes on Taits Hill road, the council would like to increase area to beyond the access to the industrial estate.
Myself Cllr Braun and Cohen left at this point for a quick catch-up meeting in the car park.
