Welcome to Frantechnia

Hi, I’m Francesca, a software engineer since 1st May 2025 and lifelong tech enthusiast. Frantechnia is my online career handle, and this is my new blog to share my journey, learning and more.

A bit about me, I grew up with family that were passionate about tech, and grew up hearing the fascinating history from punchcards, to a command line only era, to GUIs emergence.

I’m just old enough to remember floppy disks, dial up internet and the exciting expansions as the web evolved past simple html with clumsy styling (and pages especially photos gradually loading down the page in bars like a painful to watch reveal) to what the web is today. Not to mention the incredible leaps in hardware, seeing RAM evolve, storage actually break into TB instead of just MB or GB, and files regularly measuring size in MB or GB not just KB.

To finally work in this industry myself is a privilege and an honour. I’m proud and inspired by the women of tech history, and very excited to become part of the evolving journey of technology.

Join me, as I delve into that history, chart my own growth journey and look ahead to the future of this industry.
