Dear Senator Sanders,

I, Hesten, a resident of Burlington, Vermont, and a native of Vermont, write to convey my unequivocal support for the principles you uphold as a United States Senator. I firmly believe that these principles, encompassing tax reduction, the promotion of social justice, the provision of accessible childcare, and the nurturing of workplace democracy, constitute paramount considerations for all individuals occupying positions of authority.

I am eager to comprehend how you would enact your principles as President, should you be elected, to augment our nation. In particular, I would appreciate knowing your stratagems concerning the following domains:
Establishing housing accessibility for all citizens
Eradicating medical debt obligations
Providing no-cost childcare services
Fostering workplace democracy.
As a concerned citizen of Burlington, Vermont, and by extension, the United States of America. I respectfully inquire about the strategies that you intend to employ to address the escalating crime rate, prevalent drug problems, and the broader justice system.

As an individual who regularly utilizes public infrastructure, including public transportation and pedestrian pathways, I am confronted with the tangible consequences of criminal activity, overt drug consumption, and a compromised justice system that undermines the well-being of society.

I have witnessed people actively using drugs in public places, injecting themselves, smoking drugs openly, and even selling drugs on public transportation. It's not uncommon to see individuals who appear lifeless, chasing after others while under the influence, or experiencing overdoses right in front of me. There are certain areas of town I avoid entirely because I do not feel safe. The prevalence of drug activity in these neighborhoods, especially within school zones, is deeply concerning.

Emergency services are frequently called to these areas due to constant overdoses, violent altercations, and disputes over drugs. Despite the frequent calls to 911, it often seems like little is being done to address the root of the problem. One particular drug house is notorious for harboring stolen vehicles and merchandise, and it frequently becomes a refuge for those evading law enforcement. Unfortunately, the police department appears to be underfunded and overwhelmed, and the justice system seems unable to effectively address these issues. This combination of factors leaves the community feeling vulnerable and neglected.

In my area of residence, there is a frequent occurrence of a popping sound, leading to speculation among the populace regarding its origin, specifically whether it is gunshots or fireworks, and the need for potential evasive action. While I acknowledge your commendable values as a politician, I would like to emphasize the pressing need to address the following matters with a sense of urgency:
The ongoing battle against illegal drug use and trafficking.
The escalating crime rate is a growing concern for society.
The prevalent issue of homelessness affects individuals and families.
The reduction of funding for law enforcement impacts public safety.
The limited access to adequate social services for those experiencing homelessness and substance abuse, whether prescribed or illicit. Additionally, a lack of follow-through with these services after individuals undergo rehabilitation through housing, drug treatment, or both.
The a need for improved options for those facing food insecurity, ensuring that everyone has access to sufficient and nutritious nourishment.
The provision of social services for individuals who lack the necessary life skills to become self-sufficient empowers them to lead independent lives.
The implementation of rent caps across the board to ensure affordable housing for all.
Enhanced protections for individuals receiving economic assistance, enabling them to gain financial independence and sustain themselves.
Addressing corporate greed and excessive profiteering, promoting ethical business practices and fair competition.
In conclusion, although Burlington possesses numerous commendable attributes, certain pressing concerns necessitate immediate attention to restore a sense of safety within the community. I eagerly anticipate further dialogue on this matter and express my gratitude for the opportunity to discuss these issues with you. Thank you for dedicating your time to this discussion.

Sincerely,
