Sasha Banks and Naomi indefinetly suspended from WWE after walkout

Announced last night on Friday Night SmackDown, Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely. They have also had their titles stripped, with a future tournament to take place to crown new champions.

WWE have also removed all Sasha Banks and Naomi merchandise from WWE Shop & WWE Euroshop.

The backstory:

Just before this weeks Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks and Naomi handed their WWE Women's Tag Team championships to the Head of Talent Relations for WWE, John Laurinaitis. Both wrestlers legitimately walked out due to frustrations with storyline plans, and they felt they weren't "respected enough" as champions.

Shortly after the incident, WWE released a statement on their website and social media channels stating:

When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight's Monday Night Raw.

During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

They claimed they weren't respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents even though they'd had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence. Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract.

We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight's main event.

It's no secret to WWE fans that ever since the Women's Tag Team titles were introduced a few years back, the titles have had zero relevancy on TV. The women's division in WWE is a joke. It's the same matches week after week and it seems like WWE cannot book long term engaging storylines for the incredibly talented wrestlers. It doesn't help either that WWE fired most of the division during the COVID-19 pandemic due to "budget cuts".

I personally cannot blame Sasha Banks and Naomi for walking out. In fact, I commend them for it. They are both talented wrestlers that clearly know their worth. Hopefully this walkout will send waves throughout the company and that more respect is shown to all the wrestlers on the roster.
