DAY014: HOW TO CHOOSE PRIVACY TOOLS
May 22, 2025•680 words
hello again to the beautiful world of tech & etc, and welcome to my 13th blog of #the121, lets begin without any anything
today my topic is very essential for those who need to or want to start their privacy protection journey, so pls go along
the first thing a smart ppls will do after realizing how big tech companies game with our data, they will think its time to focus on privacy & switch from careless services who only cares about your privacy for their profit
but what should someone look for while switching or finding right tools to switch, u cant just switch to any service that is not popular or not big as tech giants, most of the small companies also steals data, but cant get bigger for small userbase and bad timing on market, so switching to them will risk ur data also
so while switching to privacy focused services, the first thing we need to do is verify, verifying how much private they are and how much they respect users data, and their licenses, thats the only way to choose the right tool, or either u will give data to another company that will use it, sell it, whatever they can
while verifying is not a hard step, but many ones think is it, but with right guidelines, u will find that its as easy as just picking
the first thing to notice for an privacy focused tool is, is it connected to big & strong data privacy laws or not, some big privacy & security laws like GDPR (GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATIONS) and many others u can find on online, but GDPR is widely accepted cs firstly its EU(EUROPEAN UNION) based & currently known as strictest data privacy & protection law, (u can find more info online, search for "GDPR DATA"), so if any company or service in its connection, it'll automatically means that ur data is under one of the best privacy laws
after that, the thing u should notice is e2ee (end to end encryption), i'll write about e2ee in details and link it here, but heres the basics, if e2ee is mentioned in that service, it means any data that is getting protected by e2ee is only and only accessible by u & only u & only u, no company, devoloper, manager, police, government can access it from the servers, ur data gets encrypted and that means even the fastest computer of the planet will have a stroke while wanting to view or understand ur data, but if ur data is not going through servers, it should only stay on local which is considered as secure but still not if its not encrypted on device, so e2ee is must option for privacy
and the 3rd and one of the most important part for trusting a company or service is, open source (i'll write a detailed blog about open source in future and link it here, but heres the basics), if an company cant be open source, how came they say there private, where will trust come from, being fully open source means u as an general public can still see how is ur data being processed & accessed & transfered & everything, every thing happening will happen in front of, and if a company can promise their protecting ur data and not stealing it then their should be no problem while open sourcing there service, but big tech dont do that, so there is always an why lies in our head why cant they just open source it if there actually honest, thats why even being gdpr compliance & e2ee support, companies cant be trusted that easily
alright guys & girls, this are the root and core things to look for while choosing the right privacy tools, and switching after trusting, there is more info on web which i'll try to write about in future but u can find on blog now also, connect me on my socials for any help or just being friends, stay protected
have a better life...
