As I'm fleshing out bsky@fallintoflow, I posted videos from Dailymotion, thinking like YouTube, they would play with Bluesky's feed. 🚯 Not happenin.

This is what I mean by "knowing what you don't know." Either it wasn't mentioned or I missed it, but I learned why, after a little research. Dailymotion has embedding locked away behind API keys. This will give people control over where content is streamed (for copyright, branding, etc). They got busted a few times for 🏴‍☠️ vids, so there's the fix.

Would it have impacted my decision to go with Dailymotion? Maybe. Not enough to go elsewhere. Since Bluesky allows 1min video uploads, it works out in a way (most of my videos are under 60sec).

And knowing is half the battle...

Video is go-to medium to showcase work and I came across Dailymotion for hosting Fall into Flow videos, outside of itch.io. Somethings I considered: Tik Tok: Their future in the US is "up in there air." YouTube: Just starting out and standing out in a vast sea of everything is its own challenge.
