I know the Nimbyx issue is already dead at this point, but it really grinds my gears how some companies (and down to the individual decision makers) are just so out of touch with reality that they need to micromanage their employees' presence.

Look, I'm not saying that on-site work is bad. Sometimes, people do collaborate better and resolve issues quickly when they are in the same location. The key word here, however, is "sometimes". Sometimes, the other side of the coin is true: People work better when they just stay at home and produce the needed output. It's very annoying when a company just takes a general stance of "everybody RTO" without proper assessment of each worker's (or team's, or office's) skills and responsibilities.

This issue is really close to my heart as an introvert, a commuter, and as someone who is in charge of dinner at home. Companies should realize that things are not so black and white rather than blindingly follow pre-pandemic boomer traditions.

Society had a good thing going. Let's not ruin it, please! Gen Zs, I am with you - keep up the good fight!
