A Secret in the tech industry they don't tell you while preparing for a career in tech is that what makes you the most valuable employee is not about how many programming languages you know, it's not about what degree you have, it's not even about what your grades were or how cheap of a salary you're willing to take... The one quality that will advance your career the fastest and show that you're the right candidate for nearly any role is this: it's the ability to learn and master any new skill, language, framework, tool, that is needed to do any job or fix any unexpected problem that shows up that nobody was expecting; or to be the person who can handle immediately learning something that no one was prepared to have to face.
So, I give you this one piece of advice to those going into the tech field: if you don't want to ever have to worry about your one specialty being finished what they needed it for - focus your time on practicing adapting to any new scenario needing any skill it requires. If you never stop being able to fix any problem or fill any role that opens... You will likely be one of the last people that they'll want to get rid of. So, master the ability to learn new things and instantly apply them.
