Sam Menzin

Sam Menzin is the founder and CEO of Campus Edge Baseball, a college baseball recruiting firm dedicated to helping student-athletes navigate the recruiting process. Throughout his career, he has worked across baseball operations, player acquisition, performance strategy, contract negotiations, and investment-related initiatives. His experience spans leadership, analytics, recruiting, and operational management within the sports industry. Sam established Campus Edge Baseball in 2025 and built a recruiting platform that provides personalized guidance to athletes nationwide. The platform includes athlete profiles, a coach and school database, school-match applications, and a recruiting strategy matrix. As CEO, he oversees sales, marketing, website development, social media, client onboarding, coach relationships, analytics, financial tracking, video optimization, and NCAA compliance. He also collaborates with baseball showcase events and maintains relationships with D1, D2, D3, and JUCO coaches to improve recruiting opportunities for clients. In addition, Menzin serves as an analyst with Woods Capital and is the founder and principal of SJM Sports. Through these roles, he advises investors, private equity firms, and ownership groups evaluating sports assets, team acquisitions, and operational strategies. His interest in baseball was strengthened after reading Moneyball as a teenager, leading to a lasting appreciation for the game's analytical side. Sam played baseball for four years at Swarthmore College and earned the 2012 Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award. During college, he also worked as Assistant Director at the Complete Game Institute, managing the Pitching Biomechanics Facility, conducting pitching camps, and working with high-speed video technology. His professional path included internships with the New York Mets, Turner-Gary Sports, and the Detroit Tigers. Menzin gained experience in corporate sales, client relations, baseball operations, salary arbitration, market analysis, free-agent strategy, and player evaluation. In 2012, he joined the Detroit Tigers as an intern and remained with the organization for 14 years, advancing to VP and Assistant General Manager in 2021 at age 31. In that position, he led teams across scouting, medical, performance, and player experience while contributing to player acquisitions, contract negotiations, salary arbitration matters, and more than $100 million in capital investment initiatives. Sam Menzin earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Psychology from Swarthmore College and studied abroad in Rome, Italy. He is completing an Executive Master of Business Administration at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business and is expected to graduate in 2027. Raised in Westbury, New York, he attended Friends Academy High School. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, running, skiing, biking, yoga, and chess. In 2023, he completed the Detroit Marathon and raised $17,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention while also volunteering with NOSH Food Kitchen and Mission City.
