5 Phases of Minimalist Optimization

Physical stuff

The first phase is the decluttering/purging phase. Rid yourself of items that have not been used in the last 6 months (for seasonal items 1 year).

Digital stuff

The second phase is a bit more complex than the first. Cleaning up your digital life is long and perpetual process. This phase can be completed alongside any of the other phases.

Mental stuff

The third phase is as complex as the second but easier to do while completing the second phase and after completing the first phase. This is reflection on your philosophies, lifestyle, general thoughts and everything else in the other phases.

Finance management

Once the second phase is well under way, a review of finance and money management comes into view. This is where long term goals are outlined and implemented to steer your day to day life.

Habit reformation

This final phase is not so much an end point as it is a beginning point, it is a a focus on my day to day habits. Of course, revisiting habits is an ongoing and perpetual process as well.

Realistically I would work through these phases as many times as necessary to achieve the lifestyle of simplicity that I want.

Until next time ...
