One of the less-than-desirable traits of old people is the problem we have with sphincter control. Typically, there's this pressure deep down within, that continues to build as time goes along. Sometimes it builds quickly. Other times not so much. The question, often, is "is it gas or is it something more?" The older one get's the less certain we are.

It's a manageable problem when one feels the event coming on. There's some warning... some time to plan and react accordingly. But when one doesn't feel it coming on... and the problem solves itself... despite the surrounding place and crowd... that's what's known as the "Inadvertent Fart". There's nothing that can be done to remedy that event. You learn to not care so much what others think. Nature is what it's called and who is blamed.

The same thing applies to writing and my thoughts. There will be no editing here. No pulling punches for civility's sake. Although my mindset is usually a calm one and my mood is usually light, and I do understand that everyone has a right to their opinion, my intention is to just let it flow with minimal to no editing, spell-checking, or wordsmithing. Let it flow, just like an Inadvertent Fart. At least that's my goal.

And that brings me to our polarized politics. What could we achieve as a nation if we were pulling together in generally the same direction? There are so many people out of the workforce, not because there's a shortage of jobs out there, but because they don't feel they're valued, that they're needed. There's a malaise, an ennui, that's infected the people. A smaller number are making it big and a larger number are caught in a downward spiral. Are many of us "surplus people"? More on this as the future unfolds.

Once in a while something sticks in your head. And you think about it... over and over. And it starts to bother you. I mean, really bother you. You can't think of anything else. You can't sleep because it's bothering you. It's on your mind. You can't shake it. And one day, you might be talking to someone about something totally different. And out it comes. Like vomit mixed with rage. Like maybe even worse. And that's what one might call an Inadverent Fart.
