Day 11 - Enjoy the moment

Part of Listed's 100 Day Writing Challenge.

You may have noticed I skipped a few days, was travelling overseas. Might blog about it.

Today is but a short blog post.

Enjoy the moment

There is something called "The Surfer Mentality", which says

When a surfer gets up on a wave, they enjoy the present moment, even though they know with certainty that the wave will eventually end. They fully enjoy THIS wave, with the wisdom and awareness that there are always more waves coming.

And I like that quote, which can be interpreted in many ways. And one of my personal interpretation is this:

A moment in your life may end, your club activities, your school periods, your friendship groups. They all will eventually dissipate and come to a standstill. Eventually you will have to graduate, your friends will have different interests and lose contact, every story-based video game you play will have an ending. One should not hold onto things that are meant to end, just like how a surfer does not hold onto still waters when the wave ends. Its more important to recognize that you had your fun and memories, and its time to go and find new ones. New friend groups, new schools, new workplaces.

Enjoy the moment, even if you know that it will end someday. Its not about the ending, but the journey.

I recommend reading up more about "The Surfer Mentality".

You'll only receive email when they publish something new.
