Plan A, Google Photos

Backing up your photos
For any parent, our collection of photos and videos is precious cargo. Years ago during a transition between cloud services, we lost some photos. It was painful. We searched backups, found some, but ultimately never were sure what we may have lost. So when we moved to Google Photos, it was welcome as they claim to "backup" your photos, not just sync them.
My wife and I each have libraries of 400 to 500 GB, so these are by far the biggest services we have to migrate.
Attempt 1: Partner Sharing
I had hoped to be clever and use a feature we love in Google Photos... Partner Sharing. I shared my photo library to my personal email address, and now I had access. I tried to download all my photos, but there is no option to do that, or even to select all.
You can select photos, or days, or even hold down the shift key while scrolling to expand your selection.
The first two work, but that last one, which if it worked, would've been mostly a one stop solution.
Unfortunately, When I tried selecting a larger group of photos, I received the error "Unable to add".
This would not be the solution I was hoping for.
