Worship is not a Choice

The first commandment forbids denying God, or saying with our mouths or by our lives that He does not exist. It also forbids us to not worship Him. In other words, we are not allowed to not worship God. Most people see worship as something they can choose to do when it is convenient for them. Many people never go to church at all. Even among people who do go to church, if they wake up tired and would rather go back to sleep or if they have somewhere to go or something to do on Sunday morning they will choose to do that rather than attend worship. Most of us seem to think there is nothing wrong with that. Church is something people can attend when they would like to, but they are free to choose. That is not what God says in His Word. Many places in Scripture command us to come together regularly with God's people to worship God and learn from His Word. Worship is not a choice. God commands us to worship Him and forbids us to not worship Him. Read Hebrews 10:25.

Heb. 10: 25, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
