Ciana swings open the doors to Celeste's room which startles a rather busy Celeste. "What have you made of this room?" asks a very shocked Ciana as she points to the crumbled up pieces of paper that cover the soft carpeted floor. "I am very busy right now Cia, I don't have time for your taunts," announced Celeste as she continued to write diligently. "Jeez, calm down Celery. I was just joking. Anyway what are you working on?" Ciana knew calling her sister 'Celery' was enough to get a reaction out of her but this time to Ciana's disappointment, Celeste said nothing. Not a single word. Confused, she peered over her sister's broad shoulders and steadily stretching out her hand, snatched the writing pad from Celeste's grip. "Give it back you jerk," Celeste shouted at her sister, finally getting hold of the writing pad.
Ciana had never seen this side of her sister. She always remembered her to be more calm and patient with every situation that came her way. "Mom just shouted at me for wasting my time trying to get into Art school so I just wanted to come here and talk to you, guess I shouldn't have." Celeste realised that she shouldn't have shouted at Ciana. She was already having a hard time with their mother. Celeste walks over to Ciana who was leaning over the window with her face buried in her arms and in an attempt to cheer her up, gently pats on her shoulder. "Hey," whispered Celeste, "wanna hear a cool story?"
Growing up, Celeste and Ciana had to face a lot of familial issues. Since their mother was ill, Celeste took care of her sister. To cheer her up, she would tell Ciana stories of all kind which helped her cope with the situation so Celeste knew how to get Ciana to talk to her.
"I am not five anymore Celeste, and this is serious," said Ciana in a muffled voice. "Fine, I get it," assured Celeste, "So I guess you don't want to hear about the Castle of Lord Westbrook of Allfor that my friends and I were talking about in the coffee shop today." Just before Celeste could complete the sentence, Ciana sprang up, almost hitting her head on the window handle. Hiding her enthusiasm, Ciana asked "Well where is the Castle of Lord Westbrook of Allfor and what is so special about it?"
"It is a medieval castle made in the year 1245 by Lord Westbrook of Allfor. He was the nephew of the king and therefore inherited great wealth from his uncle. The story goes that when the king was overthrown and all the noblemen loyal to the king were mercilessly killed, Lord Westbrook provided shelter in his castle to a lot of people and when he was killed, the looters never found the castle. Legends say that anyone in danger who seeks refuge will find the castle where it's least expected. A lot of people claim to have seen the castle when in danger."
Celeste could see Ciana's eyes light up with interest. "So what exactly does the castle look like, you know in case I am ever in danger and this structure appears in front me, I need to know whether I should go in or not?" Ciana asked. Celeste chuckled at her sister's childlike behaviour and answered "Well first of all, it doesn't just appear, you have to walk a bit on the road till you see a tower made of grey stones."
"Well thats stupid. If you have to walk to get to the safe zone, wouldn't the danger, whatever it maybe, catch on to you?"
"You are right Cia but here is the thing, people say that when you start walking on the road, you will disappear to the thing that is chasing you, be it an animal or a human."
Ciana thought for a while and with a sigh asked "Does it give refuge to people with mothers that crush their daughter's dreams and feelings?" Celeste put her arm around Ciana as she rested her head on Celeste's shoulder.
