Blue Jays

They are handsome and beautiful. The writer enjoys how they look cute and seek one's attention. When I confined myself in the house, they seemed to say, "Come outside and feed us," and broke my spell of inaction.

My other friend, the house cat, relished the sight of the jaybirds and hid indoors to gaze at them through the garden window. From appearances, we were both captivated—the cat and I—by the sight of the birds flitting in the big cherry tree.

Another writer shared of the "aloha spirit", and this writer sees in the birds a spirit of non-attachment. It was fine with the jays when I gave them a treat, because this neighborhood is plentiful for them.

If they could not raise me from my idleness, they simply went to a more forthcoming neighbor of mine.
