Recovery and Health

I’m feeling about 90% recovered after my recent medical procedure. It was a straightforward day procedure, and the experience went well, especially since it came recommended by my regular doctor. I’ll be following up with the surgery department in a few weeks.

I was released to my housemate’s care on the day of the operation, and the result has been improved health. However, I do need to be more mindful of my diet now—even more so than in the past.

Creative Projects

Between various creative crafting projects, I’m thinking of making a cat plush figure. I recently picked up a simple pattern from an Etsy seller for it.

Throughout most of April, I worked on a crocheted sweater following a tutorial by Purnell on YouTube. While the project was fun, it was slightly beyond my current skill level. The resulting sweater is functional, but the fit is poor—partly because the directions were a bit sketchy, leading to several mistakes. I plan to recoup the cost of the yarn by "frogging" or dismantling the sweater. I’m viewing the time spent as a valuable investment in my crochet education.

Daily Life and Reflections

I stayed home all day, aside from a few breaks to go write at a coffee shop. In the afternoon, I took a walk around the neighborhood. My housemate spent the day binge-watching indie drama recordings on YouTube; he wasn't very engaged, though that is normal for him.

It was a bit of a lonesome time, but there are moments when I feel perfectly content with my own devices. I could go into the city to engage with the community if it felt necessary or desirable, but lately, I’ve felt somewhat jaded or bored with the local social scene. I also deal with a bit of paranoia—a feature of my mental health condition. Ultimately, things feel both good and bad at once, which is a lot like real life.
